Macdara Ó Seireadáin is a member of the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and First Class Honours graduate of both the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover and Royal Irish Academy of Music.
A multiple prizewinner, in 2010 Macdara won the inaugural Irish Freemasons Young Musician of the Year competition and has held orchestral positions with Philharmonisches Orchester Kiel in Germany, and the Tiroler Festspiel in Austria. As a freelance clarinettist he has with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, Staatsoper Hannover, Irish Chamber Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra, Camerata Ireland, Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, and Nordharzer Stätebundtheater amongst others.
As both a chamber and orchestral musician he has performed throughout Europe, the US, Canada, China, Chile, India, collaborating with John O'Conor, Ailish Tynan, Johannes Peitz, Sharon Kam, Finghin Collins, the Vanburgh, and the Apollon Musagete Quartet, and performing at numerous chamber music festivals including Great Music in Irish Houses, Fredener Musiktage, Kilkenny Arts Festival and Killaloe Chamber Music Festival. In addition to this he is a member of the Dublin-based Ficino Ensemble, with whom he has recently recorded their debut CD “Winter”.
Alongside a busy performing career Macdara has prepared clarinettists for university entrance exams and taught masterclasses in the Beijing Central Conservatory of Music, China, and the Conservatory of Music in Klaipeda, Lithuania.
